It's been a while since I been on here, but came across an awesome find, so had to put it up, since its hard to come by nowadays. Picked it up today at Edmonton's bi-annual pop culture fair. Pretty cheap, the guy was super nice and let this box set go for $20! He had 2, and right after I picked it up, the next time I came around to his table he had changed the price to $50. Lucky Me.
This box is a pretty extraordinary box set. The box I have is pretty much mint. The previous owner took the liberty of wrapping it entirely with clear plastic bag somehow. The box has a a big window on the front, but what i really like are the windows on the sides and above so you can feel like Hasbro put a bit more effort in this set than what they have done in the past.
The set contains Vader and all the bounty hunters Vader had hired to look for the Millenium Falcon in the Empire Strikes Back. Most people won't recognize the guys in the set besides Boba, IG-88 and Bossk. The other guys are relatively unknown, but the main thing is i don't think too many of them came out as individual figures, so I'm glad i came across this one.
The figures look really well made, and the details look as if they excel those of the basic figures. They look very sturdy and dense. Especially Vader. This version appears to not have any fabric and brings it back to the plastic cape and skirt (which i kinda missed). The bounty hunters however don't look very poseable. Well neither does Vader. They don't appear to bend at the knees or elbows so i imagine Hasbro wanted to built them sturdy and better detailed to be kept in the box, opposed to taken out to display. Well looks like thats what I'm gonna be doing. Photo's below, take a look.

DC Direct: Ame-Comi Batgirl PVC Figure
So i was picking up some buddies on my birthday way back, and decided to go to th comic book store. See whats up. So went inside and saw a table full of 50% off shit. Guess what? Sexy Batgirl. $20 bucks. Everytime i went in to grab books and stuff, its been hanging up on there. I saw my girlfriend eyeing it a few times and she pointed it out. but really. 45 bucks?
20 bucks. Okay. Picked it up, and i gave it to her the next time i saw her, and she told me to keep it at my place. Am i going to say no to keeping sexy batgirl in my basement? well no.
So here she is. She's actually really big. Stands 9" Tall and is probably one of the biggest figures i own. The paints really good. nice and smooth, no imperfections on the surface and no hints of mold lines at all. She doesn't move at all. Just comes with a base and shes stuck in that cheesy pose, but she still looks hot. Shes actually pretty sought-after so I have no idea why no one bought her, but I guess 45 bucks is pretty hefty. Well here are some pics. Try not to slober too much.

Minichamps 1/43: James Bond Aston Martin DBS. (Gold Edition Limited to 2016 Pieces World Wide)
So here is the first car model I'm posting, but i actually own alot.
This is actually my first 1/43 scale car model, because i always felt like you couldn't get enough out of them in such a smal size, but i obviously couldn't pass this one up.
The minichamps line is the most famous brand for model cars in the 1/43 scale around the world. This one retails for probably over 100 bucks, since the regular non gold DBS retails for about 70. The detail on this model is amazing right down to the tiny emblems, 5 point harness in the seats and the tiny fire extinguisher in the back seats.
Whats really nice about this model is that its freakin gold plated. Its the shiniest thing in my basement for sure. I thought only the body would be covered in gold, but the rims, side mirros, grill and the exhaust pipes are too. The golds been plated real smooth and theres barely any imperfections in the body at all. This ones just straight up beautiful. I doubt any of these can be bought from a retail store or sitting a shelf anywhere, but maybe check around on Ebay. but be ready to pay the big bucks, because this bad boys pretty rare with only 2016 pieces around the world. Mines #1316/2016.
Check out the pics: Its shiny as hell.

McFarlane: Halo 3 Master Chief Legendary Collection
Alright, so not too long ago McFarlane released their Halo 3 Legendary Collection.
This is Master Chief [Spartan-117]. He's pretty damn nice, I picked him up for $20 during the Edmonton Collectible Toys and Comics Show.
He's not very poseable...well. He's not at all. but the detail on him is amazing. The pictures seriously don't do it justice. The paints beautiful, and his armor is washed really well. He comes with a pretty swank base and 3 flood attacking him plus his assault rifle. He's pretty much stuck in this pose, but he looks freakin sweet. Pretty tempted to take him out of the box, but I just don't know where i'd put him. He stands pretty big, much larger than the McFarlane figures. If you see this one, make sure you pick it up. Alrite.
Good Job McFarlane. Here are some pics:

Star Wars Saga Collection 2006: Ultimate Galactic Hunt Scorch
So this was probably the hardest figure to find in all of 2006 out of the Star Wars basic figures. I don't know if you know what UGH (Ultimate Galactic Hunt), but during the years of 2006/2007/2008 for a dozen of the 60-100 released, they select a few to be "UGH" so maybe 1/50 - 1/200 of that one character to have an Ultimate Galactic Hunt Sticker and the special chrome base. One of the hardest figures to find is Scorch not being Galactic Hunt. The UGH one is ultra rare, so to have this in my collection makes me pretty happy. Paid retail 10 bucks for this guy, here are some pics:

Star Wars Saga Collection 2006: Target Exclusive Ultimate Galactic Hunt Demise Of Grievous - Signed by Matthew Wood!
So today was the Edmonton Collectible Toy and Comic Show. It was pretty nice, held at shaw conference which created a pretty nice atmosphere. 501st Legion was there which had lots of people in costumes to entertain the kids and over 200 vendors. I knew Matthew Wood was gonna be there, so I brought along my Grievous Mighty Muggs and my UGH Demise of Grievous. He voices General Grievous in Episode 3 and also voices him in the ongoing Star Wars Clone Wars series.
So the doors opened up at 10 a.m. and he was really close to the front doors so went straight to him first. To autograph an individual item it was $20 bucks, so I had to choose one or the other so thought it'd be more worth it to get the UGH Grievous signed over the Muggs. He was really friendly and didn't mind taking a picture with me at all, real cool and down to earth guy. He signed the figure and didn't mind getting a pic taken with it. He also didn't mind any questions or telling you what he does and where he works. If you ever get a chance to meet Matthew Wood, I hope you go for it because after meeting him your respect for him and his work just goes up by that much. Oh yeah, and he did a Grievous impression after every autograph he signed, so that added to it to. "Cruuuuuush Them. Make them suuuuuffer."

I picked up the figure last year from BigBadToyStore for about 10 bucks. Costed 20 for his autograph so this fig totals out to about 30 bucks.
Well here are some pics of the fig and Wood himself holding it up.

Mighty Muggs: SDCC Iron Man
So second post here, so thought i'd start sharing most of my prized possessions up on here, since before I bought some of my things, it was pretty hard to find really good personal pictures of them besides those straight up photos from the manufacturer that are straight up dinky and low res. So heres my special Iron Man Mighty Muggs as seen from the movie. He was a limited edition during the San Diego Comic Con and was only available there. From what I heard you had to stand in a 2 hour line up for a ticket to stand in another 4 hour line up to grab this guy. He's extremely rare now and easily goes up on ebay for 70 bucks. I grabbed him with a Commander Gree Mighty Muggs off Ebay, so approximate price of this guy: 30 bucks. (won the bid about a week right after comic con). I know you grammar freaks are gonna have a hard time with this one, because since their really called "Mighty Muggs" i'll have to add the "s" at the end of "Muggs" which makes it sound plural, but reall its still singular, since they refer to one mugg as a muggs.
...nevermind.
So as you can see right away he's pretty special. He's the only Mighty Muggs who has had a metallic box treatment. On the back it appears he's the only one in the "Iron Man" run of mighty muggs, and there will be no other ones coming. Mine got bumped a tiny bit in the upper right corner during shipping, so kind of a piss off. But better than not having one. The gold is a mat gold which brings him out really well, but the rest of the red is all metallic which is pretty special. He comes with no accessories, but he still looks mega bad ass. He's my favorite muggs out of all of mine (37). So here are some pictures, and hope you enjoy em.

DC Direct: Watchmen Series 1 - Rorschach
Here is my first post, so what better way to start a blog then the best character from the most celebrate novel of all time, Watchmen?
I went to see watchmen last week Friday on the opening day here in Canada, and let me tell you. The movie was really good and well put together. They caught the story pretty good in 2 hours and 43 minutes, but a few things bothered me. One was the fight scene where Night Owl ll and Silk Spectre fought the thugs that tried to mug them. The fight scene was good, but the motive was kind of...twisted i guess? probably since Zack Snyder definately needed some kinda 300 style action, so he threw it in there. I thought that Nite Owl and Silk Spectre probably wouldn't kill some thugs like that, so kinda set off thier morals and their characters a bit more compared to the novel. Another thing is that Doctor Manhattan's had it hanging the whole time. Somewhere i read said a total of 30 some odd minutes or something. It definately was a little bit too much. Everyone i've talked to agreed that it was a little bit too much. I feel sorry for those who saw it in IMAX realizing Dr. Manhattans dick was about as big as them on that huge ass screen. But hey, when he was huge the first time Rorschach came to seek him, i bet it was about as big as one of us already? Anyways, aside from that fact the most wack thing had to have been the soundtrack. I feel like the music totally did not reflect the mood of the graphic novel at all, and definitely hurt the experience of the movie. Who has sex to hallalujah?
But overall it was a pretty good movie, so to celebrate the most celebrated novel of all time going to the large screen I went out of my way to my local comic book store "Wizards" and picked up my favorite character from watchmen, Rorschach, for a total of 20.74. Its an extremely good figure but they skimped on some of the painting lik ehis belt bucle and the buttons. Also his scarf and jacket where its joined is not glued all that well, but overall the figure is very appealing and realistic. The switchable hand is a good addition for the Grappling Gun. The grappling gun has to be one of the best accessories in any figure i've seen. Its painted and sculpted really well and weathered to match. If you can get your hands on this figure (good luck, since series 2 has already been released) then you better grab it.
Hope i'm getting the rest of series one coming around...Nite Owl ll, Ozymamdias and Silk Spectre. Not looking forward to the second series as much though with Silk Spectre l and Nite Owl l. But hey, hope you enjoy the pics. alrite?
