300KM's. Weekend Blur.

I have driven 300KM's in 2 days. All City. That already says a lot about the car.
The weekend has been a blur. It seems all my energy this weekend has been sent directly to it. Either driving it, looking at it, talking about it, or admiring it a few friends.

I've taken several people for drives, turned several heads. Seen a few thumbs up and even encouraging comments/looks at intersections. It's mind blowing to be the person who use to point at special cars on the road to being straight in the driver seat of something special.

This car is Legendary. I feel entirely disconnected to it. When people admire it, or say something about it. It's totally separate from me. I feel often times, people judge a person on their car or judge the car based on the person. But in this vehicle, it is 100% disconnected. People appreciate the car, as it is. And that makes me extremely happy.

I don't want people to say "___ just got the FR-S." or "I heard he picked up an FR-S." I want people to say, "Wow, that's the new FR-S." or "I didn't even know those were out already."
The vehicle is so special to me, and in my mind, it's status is already legendary. I feel that people will look back at this car one day and it will have been seen as one of the greats. I just want the car to be seen, appreciated and loved by all car people who can cut all ties and look at a vehicle purely in it's own right.
I want it to evoke the feelings that I get over the years when I saw something nice drive by, or a low rumble pulling up beside me.

I'm completely exhausted. My nerves and energy levels have become completely numb from all the sensations, excitement and driving pleasure provided by my new FR-S. But when I look in the garage, it sits there with razor sharp edges. The car looks extremely fast, even when it's sitting still. It sizzles with energy and doesn't exhibit a hint of exhaustion or fatigue. It has no idea how agile and beautiful it looks.

PICK UP DAY. How many new car pick up days are you going to have in your life?

Today's the big day.

Made my appointment for pick up at 9:00 AM.
When I got there, the car was rolling into the parking spot and immediately I knew that one was mine.

After paying, running through the procedures and doing the walk-around/intro I was finally behind the wheel.
As promised to Miss Wong, She was my first passenger on my very first drive. I turned it out of Mayfield and took it on Anthony Henday right away. It blitzed up to the speed limit in no time and I just got lost in the sensation.

We very quickly passed the turn I was suppose to take, so got lost driving around in the West side for a bit. Found my way back to Toyota pretty quickly and drove to get it registered (oops).

When I got home, I decided I would park her in the garage for a bit. Go out and take a bit of time to let it sink in. I feared that being behind the wheel, and not 100% believing I truly owned the car would result in some anxiety and bad shifts. I put her in safe and sound, but I can tell you that she won't be in there very long, as I write this.

Love at first sight? How bout HYPE at first sight.

So yesterday morning after that entry booked it over to Mayfield as fast as I could.
Saw a few other white ones ready for pick up. Looks like Mayfield's second full shipment was only 4 white FR-S's, but I think I'm picking mine up first. That'll make it the second white one on the street sold in Edmonton (assuming that Sherwood Park isn't Edmonton).

Went there and the first 3 I saw didn't match the VIN's. Finally saw her parked as far deep in as they could, right under the Gazebo. No rain, no sunlight, no risks of other cars hitting it. Perfect spot thanks to Mr. I.

Car was still wrapped up.
If I could choose, I would have the car picked up in this condition.

There as a certain individual. A Mr. Chow, who is an expert on curves. But not what you think, he's an expert detailer who I've commissioned to entrust the FR-S's first clean up under. If there is anyone who you can trust, it's Mr. Chow because he knows his shit. You can read some of his past write up's here:

FR-S Arrival

Last week I received some great news. After a lot of ETA's and hearing other people's horror stories relating to wait times on the FR-S, I was issued a VIN. Some people had put a deposit down in June and are expecting the car at the end of July or August. Some regions are expecting October for their vehicles if that dealership is in high demand. I feel extremely fortunate and after surfing the boards on ft86club, I'm glad mine is guaranteed.

I knew for sure the car was on the way. Whether it was on a ship, at port, or on the rails no one knew. I had a big window it would arrive. They said sometime between June 29th to July 11.

But today, the ultimate surprise. Mr. I called me and said that my car arrived. I couldn't believe it.

My FR-S is on lot. Second White in Edmonton, and 8th FR-S in town.

It's been so long. So many years of speculation in the car community, and so many years of development on Toyota & Subaru's part to revive the dream. I've waited years for this car to come out. I've hyped every single friend or car person I've talked to. I test drove it and it lived up to the hype.

It's time to put my money where my mouth is. This car is the real deal.
