People who know me know of my undying love for Lamborghini and my juvenile belief that they are the best automobile manufacturer ever. As I got older, I realized they may not be the BEST car company out there. But the important thing is that they are my favorite.
Since I was young, I have always loved the Countach and Diablo (multiple posters in my room of both). In 2001 when the Murcielago was first released, I immediately was drawn to it and dubbed the Murcielago as my dream car.
Some people have a passion for art, writing, music. My passion has always been cars, and no car has received more thought my life more than the Murcielago. It has been the pinnacle of vehicles in my mind. Countless hours spent just reading about specs, times, manufacturing and technology surrounded such an unbelievable machine. To me, it was the perfect package. It was never the fastest car or most expensive. For me it had just the proper amount of power, the proper amount of style and the proper amount of heritage/innovation where it seemed to be the perfect balance of everything. A rolling piece of art .
At the age of 13, I saw this model at a store in West Edmonton Mall and obviously at that age $89.99 is an excessive amount of money to spend on a car model. I came back time after time to view the model, with its shiny metal brake discs and 5 pane box which allowed viewing from any angle. Then one day I came back to the store and it was gone. It was for the better. No point in looking at something time after time knowing you'll never have it.
2011 saw the end of the Murcielago's reign and the release of a faster, more technologically advanced Lamborghini to replace its ageing predecessor: The Aventador. With the production of the Murcielago coming to an end I decided to celebrate the life of the Murcielago and honour it by pursuing the model that has always been in the back of my mind. For the past few years, I have been in an on/off search for this model but was none turned up. I could easily have picked up one in orange or black. But White has always been my favourite color on this legendary car and it stuck to me after viewing it so many times in that little store. When one finally turned up, I knew it was my only chance at obtaining one. I paid a premium on it, but the feelings of that 13 year old boy looking through the glass to see this model was well worth it.
