Mighty Muggs: Spider-man SDCC 2011 Exclusive

So,
Once again.
Come and gone.
San Diego
Comic Con.

Another year I have not yet been able to attend Comic Con. But no worries. One day in the near future!

Last week I received in the mail, a special package! Mighty Muggs + SDCC Exclusive. LEEET COMBO.

For da crazy wookiee noobies, heres a low down.

The flagship of my collectibles are these vinyl urbanized figures called "Mighty Muggs". Their made by Hasbro and have the runs of Star Wars, Marvel, Transformers, G.I. Joe and Indiana Jones. I saw the first wave many years ago and it contained Iron Man, Spider-Man, Venom and Wolverine. They looked so unique and the density/quality of the vinyl and the gorgeous paint/packaging had me hooked instantly.

I have collected a TON of these over the years. Probably close to 100 if I'm not mistaken, but I haven't kept count! I'm sure it'd hurt too much... and maybe...if I survive this 30 day blog challenge - I'll post a final picture of all of them stacked for you. I have almost every Marvel, Star Wars and Transformers Mighty Muggs ever conceived including all the exclusives. I'm not a huge G.I. Joe or Indiana Jones guy, so I never bothered to hunt those down. So that's the low down for the "Mighty Muggs".

The SDCC part stands for "San Diego Comic Con". It's just a huge pop culture fair every year they have.

If you dunno what SDCC stands for - It stands for San Diego Comic Con.
If you don't know what San Diego Comic Con is. I can't help you.
You live in a box and your toilet consists of a hole in the ground.
Its okay though. I have relatives in China who still shit in a hole in the ground.
No biggie.

Sadly though. Mighty Muggs have been "out of production" for about 2 years now. They only release new ones for Comic Con and just exclusives that only attendees can buy. What happens is you go to say a "Hasbro" booth and you get a ticket. Lining up for this ticket grants you another ticket....to line up again. Yep. then you line up in the exclusives shop and you are then allowed to purchase the super rare super sought after super awesome super exclusive super low quality comic con figures.

Many major toy manufacturers release their own SDCC Exclusives, so Muggs aren't the only exclusives that are made. Then after many non-attendees such as myself flock to Ebay to try to acquire these super rare super sought after super awesome super exclusive super low quantity comic con figures.

This years Comic Con Exclusive Mugg: Unmaskable Spider-Man.

These SDCC Exclusive Muggs always have some lil feature to them, that the regular store shelf Muggs never possess. In this case, This Spider-man features a hand-sewn cloth mask that can be removed. That's a pretty new one on me.

The packaging looks awesome, and all the red is in foil. My favorite is the top. I don't know if the pictures do it justice, but its just super scarlet metallic red. This ones definitely one of my favorite Muggs upon receiving it. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

SUMMER BLOOOOOOOG CHALLEEEEEENGE. ACCEPTED.

Hey,

This your boy, Peter Luu. Sorry for the hiatus. No one reads this anyways. No biggie.
Still getting up to gear at my new job, so posts have been slow.

But not for long.
For this... is the SUMMER BLOG CHALLENGE.

Pretty simple. One post a day, for 30 days.

Devised by my co-worker & friend Liam, its a plan to utilize our blogs more (for those who are pretty inconsistent like me) and to get more readership into our blogs. I think its great, and its been going on for 3 years. This is the first time I'm doing this, so hopefully i'm not too dull. Comments would be hype.

Also, I invite you guys to visit the other people who have ACCEPTED. the SUMMER BLOG CHALLENGE. The links for the other participants are here:

INTROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. For da Crazy Wookie Noobies.

I collect toys. A lot of toys. I mean...i collect a lot of collectibles. Yes. Collectibles.

We all have some kid in us, and all of us like toys.

I took it a level up...i still buy toys....or a level down. I dunno. you guys be the judge.

But all of us have a lil kid in us, so maybe if your not able to pitch out some hard earned moolah for some kick ass toys , then just visit here daily, and let your inner kid out while my wallet drains. Sound hype?

I'm also a huge motorhead and build/collect car models as well. I sometimes build my own toys and customize quite a bit (if you visit past posts).

Majority of my posts are gonna be a new collectible that just came in, or some I've gotten in the past that hasn't had enough "spot light" that I feel it deserves. The post will probably consist of pictures and a short history/review of the figure.

Unless something epic happens. Like Stan Lee takes a shit on my lawn or a Lamborghini drives through my living room.

But enough of that. Lets get to da TOOOOOOOOOOOYZ.

Alrite. Lets get to it.

1/6 Iron Man Mark VI Collector's Edition by Hot Toys

Hey Hey, Sorry for the long absence, but just started my new job 2 weeks ago. Wanted to get settled in and finish everything the last 2 weeks. But hey, with extra income, and scheduled timing that means more time for posts, and more money for figs. So better for you guys in the end. Right?

Right.

So, this is the first 1/6 Figure I've posted on here, but I actually own 2 other ones. But this was a big one for me, and I got it before many other people have, so wanted to give you guys a shot. There's so much on this guy the review will probably be cut up into 3 parts. I'm still deciding if I should find a new way to take better pictures, because maybe the black backdrop is getting boring. Hopefully I figure something out.

About the 1/6 Figure format, its a pretty standard size in the industry. Previously the price tags have prevented me from collecting any, as well as interest. But since the Iron Man movies, I have picked up Iron Man Mark II and War Machine, who I'll hopefully put up soon as well. They are 12" tall, so the length of your standard school ruler or a foot and possess a ton of details. Hot Toys is a company that specializes in these figures, and mostly make "movie" based versions of 1/6 Figures. 1/6 Figures previously were limited to realistic military figures, and have since expanded. I have collected a ton of figures in different sizes and scales and articulation/detail and I have to say that the Hot Toys ones are worth the price, and I'd rather have 1 of these than 4 8" Figures or 10 3 & 3/4" figures. Hot Toys figures are generally in the ball park of $150-$200 a piece, but once you obtain one and they stop making them the prices start to go up on them. The Mark II I own has doubled in price since I first bought it.

But back to the fig:

I seriously don't know what to say.

ITS THE SICKEST. FIGURE. CONCEIVED BY MAN. EVER.

The amount of detail, in these figures are ridiculous. No corners were cut in the production of it, and I have very tiny ticks with it, if there are any at all. Because of everything the figure comes with, I have to split up the review to being: The figure itself, accessories/flaps and detail, and lastly "Battle Damaged" because the figure has a battle damaged setting.

Firstly, here are pictures of the box. The box has some metallic sheen all over it, and I've taken a lot of pictures from different angles to emphasize the finish on it, But its pretty hard. The pictures don't really do it much justice.

The figure's sheen outside is a slide-out sleeve, and upon opening it you see all the pieces in front of you. I want to comment on improvements made from previous versions, but I haven't uploaded the older posts yet.

I tried to get some better lighting for when I first cracked him open, so you can see the paint used in the figure. The paint is perfectly smooth with no orange peel and the metallic sheen within it is gorgeous.

This one comes with more accessories than past Hot Toys Iron Men, and he also has another set which is the "missile" launching plates.

Hopefully I get the rest of the review done throughout this week.

1/18 AUTOart Lamborghini Murcielago (Balloon White)

Between the years 2001 and 2011 the Murcielago was Lamborghini's flagship vehicle.
People who know me know of my undying love for Lamborghini and my juvenile belief that they are the best automobile manufacturer ever. As I got older, I realized they may not be the BEST car company out there. But the important thing is that they are my favorite.

Since I was young, I have always loved the Countach and Diablo (multiple posters in my room of both). In 2001 when the Murcielago was first released, I immediately was drawn to it and dubbed the Murcielago as my dream car.

Some people have a passion for art, writing, music. My passion has always been cars, and no car has received more thought my life more than the Murcielago. It has been the pinnacle of vehicles in my mind. Countless hours spent just reading about specs, times, manufacturing and technology surrounded such an unbelievable machine. To me, it was the perfect package. It was never the fastest car or most expensive. For me it had just the proper amount of power, the proper amount of style and the proper amount of heritage/innovation where it seemed to be the perfect balance of everything. A rolling piece of art .

At the age of 13, I saw this model at a store in West Edmonton Mall and obviously at that age $89.99 is an excessive amount of money to spend on a car model. I came back time after time to view the model, with its shiny metal brake discs and 5 pane box which allowed viewing from any angle. Then one day I came back to the store and it was gone. It was for the better. No point in looking at something time after time knowing you'll never have it.

2011 saw the end of the Murcielago's reign and the release of a faster, more technologically advanced Lamborghini to replace its ageing predecessor: The Aventador. With the production of the Murcielago coming to an end I decided to celebrate the life of the Murcielago and honour it by pursuing the model that has always been in the back of my mind. For the past few years, I have been in an on/off search for this model but was none turned up. I could easily have picked up one in orange or black. But White has always been my favourite color on this legendary car and it stuck to me after viewing it so many times in that little store. When one finally turned up, I knew it was my only chance at obtaining one. I paid a premium on it, but the feelings of that 13 year old boy looking through the glass to see this model was well worth it.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Don't forget about the legendary Murcielago even though the much new Aventador may shadow it. Cars will always become faster, more powerful, use more complicated and expensive materials, but the impact they make on our lives will stay with us forever.

Transformers Alternity: Convoy/Nissan GT-R

Alrite, So i've been pretty god damn busy with getting a job locked down for may internship time. But got it secured, so thats why i've been off and busy. But hey, with a job more collectibles up for you guys to check out. Right?

So I picked this up last summer in HK. Bought this guy right in the airport and played with it during the flight all the way back in between sleeping.

As you guys all know, the Transformers Alternators line was really popular and had real life vehicles transform into select Transformers. These were a huge hit, but sadly when they were popular I wasn't making enough money to even think about buying one of these.

Transformers has rebooted them with a new line called "Alternity" and this was one of the first ones made. I picked Super Silver because it was the original color the GT-R was presented in. This is by far one of my favorite figures, and I paid a lot for this guy.

400HKD. Which is close to 50 bucks canadian, but all in all I think its worth it.

The figure looks great as a robot, or as a car. The shut lines are tight and the details are amazing.

Robot Form: He's pretty solid and stands really good. He has the same structure as bumblebee for transformation with the doors in the back and the rear end folding out to his legs. The joints are really tight, and the only thing I think he's missing is a gun or something. He only has 2 gattling guns on his forearms.

Car Mode: This is by far the most impressive part. They modeled the interior by providing seats and a steering wheel. (on the right hand side, very true to JDM). The hood opens up to reveal a pretty shotty made engine, but even making one is impressive enough! It has the valve cover just as seen in the real car. The last really impressive part is that the rims are made really nice, and theres pretty realistic disc brakes behind there.

All this quality and technicallity packed into a Car model in 1/32 scale is pretty damn impressive. Its definitely worth the buy. I couldn't afford another one, but just having 1 makes all the difference. Enjoy the pics.

Tron Legacy: Sam Flynn's Deluxe Identity Disc

Alright, so been a while since I posted. Cut me some slack, I'm still in school.

So, some background on the movie: Me and E watched Tron Legacy in the theatres in UltraAVX. It was pretty dope. I don't know about the story and plot, but the music by Daft Punk was Awesome, and the visuals was for sure a master piece. But we couldn't have expected any less right?

I went tracking for one of the Identity Deluxe discs from a recommendation of Mander, but realized that they weren't shipping them up to Canada. Surprise! fucked in the ass in Canada from collectibles.

Anyways, ordered one online and just received it today.

Review: The packaging is pretty lame, its about the same as all the other Tron merchandise which seems pretty brutal, but I guess its catered to kids, so they don't really give much of a shit. right?

Initially, When i took the disc out of the packaging you can see that the matte paint gives it a pretty solid and "prop like" finish oppose to just a toy.

It seems pretty accurate in scale, and has some solid weight to it, encouraging me to huck it across the room, but i'm sure it'd break the electronics.

The cool features are it lights up (but many are complaining not enough, so making their own mods. I like customizing things, but i'm not an expert with a soldering iron, so gonna leave that one for now...). It also has sounds in certain settings.

The outside is rubber and clear, so it can take a bit of bumping around, and also identifies when it gets hit to make krazy daft punk sounds.

The stand is a nice touch. Just a piece of clear plastic but holds it nicely.

All in all, if your a big Tron fan, or even a small one this is definitely worth picking up (if you track one down).

For the price of 20 bucks, its a bargain. Looks good sitting there, or just having in your hand.

Here's some pics:

Lets turn some of the lights on
